[⯈] A Leatherbound Journal

Kyrran laid his head in Sakamae's lap as she played slowly with his blonde hair. It was a lazy and warm afternoon in their yard. The breeze coming off the oceans kept the climate mild in Shirogane. The light scattered through the leaves above, causing a mesmerizing shimmering in the air.

”Kyrran, sweetheart. Do you think it's time you put those stories about your friends down on paper?"

Kyrran's face turned thoughtful and he stayed silent for a moment. It had been a while since he had thought about them, and that carried its own weight of guilt, but he recognized that it was also a form of healing. Sakamae worried that she had brought it up too soon and her hands froze. Kyrran reached up for her hand, squeezed it gently and gave it a kiss before saying softly,

"Yeah... I suppose it is time I get them written down. I don't seem to be as much of an active bard as I used to be."

He chuckled softly to ease the mild tension, smiled warmly at Sakamae, and slowly sat up. Walking hand-in-hand they made their way inside. Kyrran pulled Sakamae in for a hug, a quick kiss, and sat down at his desk. He took a bite of a biscuit, a sip of tea, and put pen to paper.

"They were the first family I ever knew..."
